Colorado’s attorney general acts as the lawyer for all of us. The AG leads the office that enforces the laws protecting consumers and our land, water and natural resources. In the current social and political climate, the AG also needs to work with people throughout the state to address the opioid crisis, the control of health care costs, net neutrality for Colorado and federal government attacks on the health insurance system that will increase premiums and take insurance away from Coloradans with pre-existing conditions. These important issues require an Attorney General with superior legal and leadership skills and broad experience. That’s why I’m voting for Phil Weiser for AG.
I had the pleasure of meeting Phil when he came to Kiowa to share his background and vision with voters, just as he has in every county in the state. He worked for Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg at the Supreme Court, at the U.S. Department of Justice in the Clinton and Obama administrations, and as dean of the University of Colorado law school. He is a skilled advocate with experience supervising complex litigation against big corporations. He is also an innovator and collaborator at a time when many in both parties are taking a position of no compromise.
