Turkey Trot benefits task force

Trot, stroll, run or walk at the 13th annual Turkey ROCK Trot 5K family event on Thanksgiving morning, Nov. 23, at the Douglas County Events Center, 500 Fairgrounds Drive, Castle Rock.

Presented by Castle Rock Adventist Hospital, the “run to change lives” benefits the Douglas Elbert Task Force, which helps residents who are in financial distress or who are at risk of becoming homeless.

Race-day registration and pick-up begin at 8 a.m. with the wave corrals opening and pre-race festivities beginning at 9:15 a.m.

The first wave starts at 9:30 a.m., with each additional wave starting every 2 minutes. It all wraps up by 11 a.m.

The Turkey ROCK Trot Expo also opens at 8 a.m. and features more than 30 vendors, a bounce house, face painting, coffee, giveaways and free Flippin’ Flapjacks.

Pardoned bird registration (through Oct. 31) cost is $35 for adults and $15 for ages 12 and younger.

From Nov. 1-20, cost is $40 for adults and $20 for kids. Race-day cost is $45 for adults and $25 for kids.

Whether you are a serious runner or leisurely walker, bring the whole family, start a new tradition and join the fun.
