BOCC welcomes super store

Posted

As construction on the new Walmart Super Center in Elbert County continues to progress, the Elbert Board of County Commissioners welcomed the store manager to town.

At the June 24 BOCC meeting Richard Miller from Community and Development Services introduced Kevin Ray from Walmart to the commissioners and the public. Ray said he was excited to be in the county and mentioned the new store will provide 250-300 new jobs.

Commissioner Hope Goetz said the board is really happy to have Walmart on board.

“I am anxious to have people shopping here in the county rather than in Franktown or Castle Rock,” she said.

“I would like to equally welcome you here,” said Commissioner Del Schwab. “With the needs to the county this is a huge advantage for the county.”

Walmart is set to open its doors on Aug. 19.
