Castle Country Assisted Living, a nonprofit community serving
seniors in Douglas County, welcomes public entries for its
inaugural Victorian House Chili Cook-off on March 20. The entry fee
is $10 and all proceeds benefit the Victorian House community
garden.
Each entrant is asked to prepare a four-quart pot of chili for
judging and tasting. A copy of the recipe should accompany each
entry. Prizes will be awarded to the top two chilies in each
category: red, white and green. The winning chili recipes will be
auctioned off to attendees.
Chili tasting will be from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Winners will be
announced at 4 p.m. and the auction of recipes and other
chili-related goods will follow. Castle Country’s Victorian House
is at 19600 Victorian Drive in Parker.
The community garden benefited by this event is a wonderful
place for residents of the three Castle Country communities.
Providing a space to interact with loved ones and nature, the
garden is both serene and lively. The money raised will go toward
the vegetable garden portion of the garden.
