Chamber helping out seniors

Special to the News

With the country’s economic crisis, this holiday season will be especially difficult for some of our Elbert County neighbors. The Elizabeth Chamber Board of Directors has decided to help our fellow neighbor this year by focusing on the seniors in Elbert County. The chamber board will be gathering and creating baskets to give to the Elbert County Department of Social Services to distribute to the needy elderly in our area. They are asking for community assistance in this effort.

Please drop off any nonperishable food items, personal care items, gift cards, money donations or baskets to use in this project to the chamber office. The chamber board will make the baskets and then deliver them to the Department of Social Services. The chamber would like to conclude this program with the last drop off to be on Dec. 12. For an easy convenience, $20 Safeway gift cards are available in the chamber office for anyone to purchase to add to any basket. There will also will have donation boxes at several local businesses.
