Christmas for Kids applications due by Dec. 9

Families in need in Elbert County can get help with providing toys for their children.

Applications for Christmas for Kids are available at the Elizabeth Fire Station, the Elbert County Coalition for Outreach Thrift Store in Kiowa, the Elbert County Sheriff's Office, the Simla Fire Station and Big Sandy Schools office.

Completed applications must be returned by 4 p.m. Dec. 9, and toys will be available from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 14 at the Elbert County Fairgrounds, 75 Ute Ave., Kiowa.

Residents who would like to donate items to the Christmas for Kids drive can stop by donation boxes as ECCO, Jill's Feed Store, Big R, Elizabeth Business Center, True Value, NAPA, Patty Ann's Cafe, 40 Mile Feed Store, Bino's Pizza, Community Banks of Colorado Kiowa, Kubota and the Elizabeth Fire Station.

Cash donations also are accepted, and donation jars are set up at Embellished Rose, Sawmill Bar and Grill, Kiowa Bar, Skadoodles and Bino's Pizza.
