EC Riders founder passes

Glenn “Nooner” Neuenschwander passed away on Nov. 25 at his home. He had been battling cancer since September of 2007.

For the past few months, “Nooner” focused on his quality of life and opted to stay away from hospitals. When asked in September why he chose this way of life, he credits the people around him for the great amount of support he received.

“The people that I know love me and it keeps me going. I get strength from the people in the community,” he said. “I also have a great wife who cares the most.”

“Nooner” founded the Elbert County Riders in 2002 after moving to Elizabeth, and over the years the club has grown to 100 members. The club is not only a time for socializing, members do various fundraisers for communities in Elbert County, including Toys for Tots and a trash clean-up on Highway 86.

On Sept. 13, the EC Riders gave back to “Nooner” for all his good deeds, and sponsored Nooner’s Poker Run where all the proceeds went directly to Neuenschwander. A fellow EC rider, Robert Ginn, helped promote the poker run.

“Nooner is the founder of the EV Riders and he has always given unselfishly to others,” he said. “We as a club are looking to give back, recognize and help out a brother who has done so much for the community.”

Services were held at 2 p.m. on Nov. 29 at Casey Jones Pavilion in Elizabeth. A fund is being set up for Neuenschwander’s children, Devan and Dalan.
