Elbert baseball makes state bracket

In the Class 1A high school baseball state championship tournament, the Elbert Bulldogs entered the dance and faced Eads in the first round. The Eagles ended the Dogs’ season May 15 at Thomas Jefferson High School in Denver on a 4-3 final.

Elbert had seven hits in that game. Colton Holschuh pitched 6.2 innings with two strikeouts and two earned runs. He also batted 2-for-4 against Eads. Matt Wille went 1-for-2 at the plate and nabbed a stolen a base.

Eads was later eliminated in the semifinals by Fleming. Elbert finished its season with a 9-6 overall record.
