Elizabeth Schools Superintendent Douglas Bissonette leaving for new job

Assistant Superintendent William Dallas selected as finalist for interim leader

Posted

In early June, Elizabeth School District Superintendent Douglas Bissonette informed school board members that he is resigning from his Elizabeth post after accepting the position of area assistant superintendent at St. Vrain Valley School District, headquartered in Longmont.

Bissonette has been Elizabeth's superintendent since the beginning of the 2009-2010 school year. He will conclude his service to Elizabeth Schools at the end of June.

At a special meeting on June 8, the Elizabeth School Board officially accepted Bissonette’s resignation and declared Dr. William Dallas a finalist for interim superintendent. Both actions came on unanimous votes.

Before approving Dallas as the finalist for the interim superintendent position, the board met in executive session to consider his application.

Dallas was recently hired as the assistant superintendent and was scheduled to start that position in early July.

Under state law, the school district is required to provide a period of at least 14 days for public review before a final vote on the interim appointment. The board will conduct that vote at its regularly scheduled meeting on June 27.
