Four photographers focus on food

A group of local women photographers, who call themselves “Four in Focus,” have presented an exhibit each year for the past 11 years, somewhere in the Denver area.

Artist Peggy Dietz says, “We choose a theme, work on it independently from each other, find a venue and only at the end do we reveal what we have created to each other.

“It always is a surprise and the beauty is how differently we each interpret the theme. We are all very distinct in our style of photography. This year the theme is “Food” and we are showing at the Koelbel Library during the month of July.”

The quartet named their show “Food 4 Thought.” Photographers are:

Marilyn Clark, who owns a portrait studio in the Denver Tech Center, Timelapse Portraits. She has bee the photographer for the Downs Syndrome Calendar for many years and has received awards for her underwater photography and painterly photography. She has recently exhibited images from China and France.

Peggy Dietz exhibits her work at Grace Gallery in the Santa Fe Arts District and at the Depot Art Center in Littleton. She is president of the Littleton Fine Arts Guild which operates the Depot gallery. She recently won second place in the Curtis Arts and Humanities Center’s Greenwood Village photography show.

Judy Kahn specializes in labor-intensive, hand-colored photographs. She has recently exhibited independently at Swallow Hill Music Association and at Koelbel Library.

Karen Kirkpatrick recently earned a fine arts degree from the University of Denver, specializing in photojournalistic images. She prefers working with black and white images. Her recent exhibit with Marilyn Clark was called “Fall in Love With Paris.”

Koelbel Library is located at 5955 S. Holly St., Centennial. The exhibit will be open during library hours.
