Five hundred ice hockey players made up 48 teams that played in the annual pond hockey tournament at Evergreen Lake.
The tournament Jan. 8-9 sponsored by the Evergreen Park & Recreation District brought out a hardy bunch of players, who had to dress outside rather than in the Evergreen Lake House because of COVID-19 concerns. They played in novice, intermediate and competitive divisions on 19 rinks, and each team played an average of four games.
