Packages en route to military

In light of the holiday season, the Elbert County Republican Women are giving back to the residents serving overseas in the armed forces. For months, the women have been gathering a variety of goodies for 15 different care packages that will be sent out in the next month.

The packages will have magazines, beef jerky, an assortment of candy, socks, microwave popcorn, decks of cards, along with lots of other items and will be assembled Nov. 29.

Marilyn Draper is a member of the Elbert County Republican Women and said the project has been a lot of fun.

“We just want to put something together that will make things a little more comfortable for the men and women serving,” she said.

For more information or to submit addresses of Elbert County service members, contact Draper at 303-646-4894.
