The 71st Senior PGA Championship, the most historic and prestigious event in senior golf, makes its first visit to the Centennial State, May 25-30, 2010, at scenic Colorado Golf Club in Parker.

The Senior PGA Championship, the first senior major championship of the year, will require more than 1,600 volunteers in a variety of committees, assignments and positions. Volunteer applications have been accepted since March 3 on a first-come, first-served basis, .

“The success of this championship is truly dependent upon our volunteer program,” said Jeromy Manser, championship director for the 2010 Senior PGA Championship, in a news release.

“Opportunities are available for individuals with years of experience, or individuals looking to volunteer for the first time,” he said. “We anticipate Colorado to embrace this championship as it does all major sporting events, and truly showcase it to the world.”

Participation in the 2010 Senior PGA Championship Volunteer Program will give local, regional and national golf enthusiasts the rare opportunity to be a part of the most celebrated major championship in senior golf.

Committees include, but are not limited to, admissions, contestant evacuation, contestant transportation, corporate hospitality services, distribution, leaderboards & thruboards, marshals, media center registration, public scoreboard, spectator services, standard bearers and volunteer services.

Volunteers may sign up online by visiting the Championship Web site at www.SeniorPGA2010.com, or they may request an application by calling 720-259-8500. Once selected, volunteers will be required to contribute a minimum of 16 hours over four separate shifts and must be flexible to meet the needs of their assigned committee, before, during and after the championship.

All 2010 Senior PGA Championship Volunteers will be required to pay a fee of $120. In return, each volunteer will receive a uniform (golf shirt, jacket and headwear), a copy of the 71st Senior PGA Championship official journal, a lanyard, food and beverage vouchers, a merchandise discount, complimentary off-site parking with shuttle service, and a volunteer credential allowing access to the grounds and volunteer headquarters all six days of the championship.

Junior (13-17 years of age) and student (18-22 years of age) volunteer positions are also available for the 2010 Senior PGA Championship. There is no volunteer fee for either of these groups. Junior and student committees include card copy, leaderboards & thruboards, and standard bearers.
