The 71st Senior PGA Championship, the most historic and
prestigious event in senior golf, makes its first visit to the
Centennial State, May 25-30, 2010, at scenic Colorado Golf Club in
Parker.
The Senior PGA Championship, the first senior major championship
of the year, will require more than 1,600 volunteers in a variety
of committees, assignments and positions. Volunteer applications
have been accepted since March 3 on a first-come, first-served
basis, .
“The success of this championship is truly dependent upon our
volunteer program,” said Jeromy Manser, championship director for
the 2010 Senior PGA Championship, in a news release.
“Opportunities are available for individuals with years of
experience, or individuals looking to volunteer for the first
time,” he said. “We anticipate Colorado to embrace this
championship as it does all major sporting events, and truly
showcase it to the world.”
Participation in the 2010 Senior PGA Championship Volunteer
Program will give local, regional and national golf enthusiasts the
rare opportunity to be a part of the most celebrated major
championship in senior golf.
Committees include, but are not limited to, admissions,
contestant evacuation, contestant transportation, corporate
hospitality services, distribution, leaderboards & thruboards,
marshals, media center registration, public scoreboard, spectator
services, standard bearers and volunteer services.
Volunteers may sign up online by visiting the Championship Web
site at www.SeniorPGA2010.com, or they
may request an application by calling 720-259-8500. Once selected,
volunteers will be required to contribute a minimum of 16 hours
over four separate shifts and must be flexible to meet the needs of
their assigned committee, before, during and after the
championship.
All 2010 Senior PGA Championship Volunteers will be required to
pay a fee of $120. In return, each volunteer will receive a uniform
(golf shirt, jacket and headwear), a copy of the 71st Senior PGA
Championship official journal, a lanyard, food and beverage
vouchers, a merchandise discount, complimentary off-site parking
with shuttle service, and a volunteer credential allowing access to
the grounds and volunteer headquarters all six days of the
championship.
Junior (13-17 years of age) and student (18-22 years of age)
volunteer positions are also available for the 2010 Senior PGA
Championship. There is no volunteer fee for either of these groups.
Junior and student committees include card copy, leaderboards &
thruboards, and standard bearers.
