Town seeks community input for parks

Posted

The town of Elizabeth, in partnership with Colorado State University and the Colorado Department of Local Affairs, invites town residents to participate in an open house to seek input on plans for Larmer, Bandt and Shepard parks. The open house will be between 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. June 8 in Gus’ Pavilion at Bandt Park. The town will provide food.

Through the partnership, Colorado State University provides landscape architect students, who after seeking community input and evaluating the site, develop conceptual landscape designs for the parks. The information gained from the exercise will be used by Elizabeth to determine future improvements and potential funding options.

The jointly sponsored program provides students with a unique opportunity to gain experience and allows the town to receive landscape architectural services at a substantially reduced cost. The project is anticipated to cost about $3,500, with the Department of Local Affairs funding $1,400 of the project and the town matching the remaining $2,100.

The open house is intended to be an interactive forum including a short presentation and opportunity for individualized comments and suggestions. For more information contact Stacey Yarrington, town planner, or Chris La May, town administrator at 303-646-4166.
