The Colorado State Patrol has released the names of two people killed in a two-vehicle crash May 20 on Highway 83, about eight miles south of Franktown. Festus Poyner, 32, of Green Mountain Falls, and Julee Davis, 32, also of Green Mountain Falls, were both declared dead at the scene of the crash, which happened shortly after noon.
Both were wearing their seatbelts, according to Trooper Josh Lewis, of the Colorado State Patrol. A 2-year-old boy was also in the vehicle, strapped in a car seat, and was transported from the scene to Sky Ridge Medical Center in Lone Tree. His condition was not available.
A 26-year-old man from Aurora and 24-year-old woman from Thornton were transported to local hospitals with life-threatening injuries. Neither was wearing a seatbelt. Their names have not been released.
According to Lewis, a 2016 Ford pickup, in which the unidentified motorists were traveling in, was heading southbound on Highway 83, and attempted to pass multiple cars in a no-passing zone. The pickup struck a 2003 Toyota SUV that was traveling northbound head-on.
